Map Making

Good maps are built by combining on-the-ground collected information with digitally sourced data.  Vermont Forestworks maintains a library of the latest aerial imagery, as well as historical imagery, LiDAR derived data, and parcel map data. We pull these elements together with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping technology to create maps of client properties.

Like our forest management plans, many of our maps are created to support enrollment in the productive forestland category of Vermont’s Current Use program.  In addition to forestry maps, we also work with farmers and agricultural producers to produce the maps needed for enrollment in the active agricultural land category of Vermont’s Current Use program.
