ABOUT

Huffer Forestry Associates was founded in 1983 by Don and Nina Huffer in Chester, Vt. Don and Nina expertly guided Vermont landowners with their knowledge and experience for decades. In 2009, they hired on Richard Root. In 2014 Don and Nina transitioned to retirement and passed the reins onto Richard. In 2024, Vermont Forestworks was created. With past experiences gained and appreciated, we now look ahead to continuing our work with Vermont landowners.

Richard Root was born and raised in Chester. He now lives in Weathersfield with his wife and their two sons. He received a master’s degree from the University of Maine in 2012. Mission statement

In Vermont, we hold our forests dear.  Forests are special places where we go to recreate, explore, hunt, unwind, seek beauty, find quiet, and on and on.  Forests are also common places that we see everywhere and every day.  Forests are the foundation of our landscape.

Vermont Forestworks takes great pride in stewarding forestland for our client landowners.  We use sustainable forest management to produce the forest products that our society needs while also protecting other forest resources such as aesthetics, water quality, and wildlife habitat.  Meeting landowners’ needs and ensuring healthy forests for future generations is our objective.
